Larry Namer

is an entertainment and media entrepreneur who, along with Alan Mruvka, founded E! Entertainment Television, a company now valued at over $3.5 billion, and Movies USA Magazine.


Larry Namer is best known as the Founder of E! Entertainment Tv and several other TV and media companies around the world. He is know as a pioneer and has always shown a knack for identifying new opportunities whether they be technology or geography based.

 In 1971 in chose to go  into the cable industry fresh out of college. Very few people even know what cable was back then

During his tenure at Time Inc Manhattan Cable the video group transformed Time from a publishing co to a media co. Along the way they invented urban cable, satellite TV and  pay TV  (HBO)

In 1979, he took over as the head of corporate development in charge of finding new uses for cable TV beyond just providing entertainment services. His group started using cable for data communications services and selling those to commercial operations as a replacement for telephone company service. This was a full decade before the internet started gaining commercial traction

In 19181 he left NY to become VP and General manager of Valley Cable TV in Los Angeles. This was the first 61 channel two way cable system built in the US

In 1984 he and a friend Alan Mruvka devised a plan for a cable network originally called Movietime but later renamed E!.

In 1987 that network went live on air and is now in over 120 countries

In the early 1990s he started a media company in the Soviet Union (before the fall) and brought many TV shows and over 300 concerts to Russia (including David Bowie, Sheryl Crow, Three Tenors, etc.) but was most recognized for bringing  Santa Barbarato Russia.

In 1995 he became the primary consultant to Microsoft for interactive TV strategy worldwide. Many of his theories and creations are just now being put into practice.

In 1999 he launched a domain he and a group still own and control.

In 2005 he helped launch a new TV network called Eurocinema which is now in over 35 million homes.

In 2008 he started making trips to China to teach young TV executives about commercial tv creative process.

In 2010 he started Metan Media to build media operations in China

Today he runs Metan Media as CEO as well as consults to a select few clients on strategy particularly as it relates to the introduction of new technologies into the media and entertainment business
